The Strategic Planning Framework
Building Our Future Together is a Strategic Planning Framework that will guide Cameroon schools as we seek to provide all students with the skills and knowledge needed for success. The Framework is built around three competencies—Academic Excellence, Creative Problem Solving, and Social Emotional Learning. These are the competencies our students will need to compete and thrive in the 21st century. We’ll monitor our progress at five important milestones in a student’s educational journey, from elementary or primary school graduation to secondary school graduation and to high school graduation. The work of our schools and offices will be aligned to the three competencies, as well as a continued commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Students, Staff, and Community
Our vision is of a new world of learning based on the compelling truth that improving education is the key to the survival of the human race.
It’s a world of creativity, inspiration and ambition informed by real-world evidence and experience. It’s a world where students become lifelong learners and develop 21st-century skills. It’s a world where innovation is the rule, not the exception. It’s a world where schools provide rigorous project-based learning, social-emotional learning, and access to new technology. It’s a world where students and parents, teachers and administrators, policy makers and the people they serve are all empowered with a shared vision to change education for the better.
We call this place Cameroon Educational System (camedus), and we provide not just the vision for this new world of learning but the real-world information and community connections to make it a reality.
We are dedicated to transforming primary school through secondary school and high school education so that all Cameroonian students in both the French and English system of education can thrive in their studies, careers, and adult lives. We are focused on practices and programs that help students acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, skills and beliefs to achieve their full potential.
What We Do:
1. Camedus is the leading voice illuminating and showcasing what works in Cameroon educational system. We show people how they can adopt best practices and tell stories of innovation and continuous learning in the real world.
2. At camedus, our research team develop and evaluate methods that profoundly impact the course of learning and lifelong achievement as we also strives for quality, replicability, and scalability.
To understand more about why we are compassionate about our work and about what our Co-founder and chairman, Takoh Abraham, has to say about education.
Please note: Camedus is a nonpolitical organization, and does not take positions on any legislation or public policies, nor does it endorse or oppose any candidates in elections to public office.
Camedus is dedicated to transforming the learning process by helping educators implement the strategies below. These strategies and the educators who implement them are empowering students to think critically, access and analyze information, creatively problem solve, work collaboratively, and communicate with clarity and impact. At Camedus, we believe that we must engage every student, every day; learning is achieved by cultivating curiosity and encouraging determination, focus, and hard work; and adult learning and engagement are keys to student learning.
Therefore, we will encourage and support critical thinking, problem solving, active questioning, and risk taking to continuously improve; stimulate discovery by engaging students in relevant and rigorous academic, social, and emotional learning experiences; and challenge ourselves to analyze and reflect upon evidence to improve our practices.
At camedus, we believe that meaningful collaboration is vital to our success as strong partnerships are built on trust, open and honest communication and building relationships with our diverse communities with tribal influences requires us to understand the perspectives and experiences of others.
Therefore, we will get to know student and staff members as individuals to better serve them; engage in interest-based decision making with our partners to achieve mutually agreed upon goals; and build strong relationships with students, family, staff, and community to support learning.
At camedus, we believe that each individual’s contributions add value to our learning community, fair treatment, honesty, openness, and integrity are essential and the diversity of our culture, interests, skills, and backgrounds is an asset that makes us stronger.
Therefore, we will model civility in all interactions and encourage candid conversations; deal fairly and honestly with each other; and listen to others’ perspectives with openness and accept that there are various points of view.
Raising the bar and setting high standards is necessary to ensure that all students graduate ready for college and career; we have to expect the best to get the best from everyone, every day; and creating intellectual excitement and supporting personal growth inspires us all toward excellence.
Therefore, we will push unceasingly for continuous improvement; hold our practice and our work to the highest possible standards; and nurture a culture of creativity and inquiry that supports innovation and progress.
At camedus, we believe that each and every student matters; outcomes should not be predictable by locality, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status as especially those schools found in rural areas as compare to urban areas or big city schools. Equity demands the elimination of all gaps in student learning as creating and maximizing future opportunities for students and staff is necessary.
Therefore , we will hold high expectations for all students and staff; distribute resources as necessary to provide extra supports and interventions so all students can achieve; identify and eliminate any institutional barriers to students’ success; and ensure that equitable practices are used in all classrooms and workplaces.
